Speakers : We are very proud  to welcome Prof. Patrick Cras and Prof. Paula Leslie. We are honoured to have them share their  invaluable clinical and ethical insights during the BSSD autumn webinar.

“Professor Patrick Cras held the position of Head of Neurology at the UZA for a considerable period of time and is now Honorary Professor. Additionally, he served as the chairman of the UZA-UA ethics committee and is currently the co-chairman of the National bioethics committee. During Belgium’s tenure as the president of the European Union, he spearheaded the organisation of a symposium comprising all the EU’s national ethics committees.
We are honoured to have him share his invaluable clinical and ethical insights during the BSSD autumn webinar. We eagerly anticipate his contributions. “

Prof Paula Leslie is not only a clinically licensed SLP (both in the UK and USA) but also an ethical expert (MA Bio-Ethics).  She was co-founder of the UK Swallowing Research Group and is active in different dysphagia-related initiatives (UKSRG, ASHA’s SIG 13, International Editorial Board Clinical Otolaryngology, …).

20.00-20.10 : welcome words and introduction of the speakers
20.10 to  21.00 : Prof.  Paula Leslie
               Introduction to ethics and general overview,
               Religious/cultural aspects of ethics and of eating/drinking
               Food and drink in the end of life
               Decision-making for eating and drinking, and for gastric tube
20.50 or 21.00-21.50: Clinical cases : Prof. Patrick Cras
21.50-22.00: last questions and conclusion
